In a white wedding dress, my sister's white wedding dress.
Colors of green and glazing purple stream up, swaying.
The scent of spring is in the air, but also the sweet stench of trouble and death.
It's Waning moon, after the new, and before the full;
Encircled by a flaming, dripping red circle,
On an ocean of dark blue and twinkling lights.
I sense a stir in the grapes, I stand up and try to run, I fail.
I am being pulled down by the earth itself.
Like quicksand, it has suddenly formed black and grimy,
Sucking me into the ground, engulfing me,
Like a drain gulps its water down, swirling.
I mutely scream and taste the damp air;
Mountains eroding and I feel my life is going to end.
A siren swoops overhead, only to pass me, and leave me catatonic as I see its face.
It is the face of a young lady that I thought I knew, yes this face was indeed mine.
Her body is coated with brown and golden colored feathers,
Like an old bird, and she's talons for hands.
She looks at me with despair, a tear streams down her face and mine.
She screeches her death song, a prayer for those unknown and beautiful,
As she swoops down to snatch me from my drowning death.
As an infant so helpless, so am I in her talons, so soft.
The clouds above form prints of bells, bunnies, and marshmallows,
All a hue of misty white.
The siren's talons grip me tightly,
Breaking my skin and tearing my blood to my white sleeves,
It pours out like rain from the sky.
One hundred feet away, I am dropped, and plummeting towards the ground.
As her sharp talons release me, from a high drop I fall.
My heart beating fast like a humming bird's wings.
A blanket of strawberries covering the canopies of the forest,
I take a moment in the sweet tasting blanket,
Only to plunge once more, but of my own desiring will.
For I taste the chants of children,
Bellies full of laughter, mouths full of joy,
They call to my eyes.
I leap, but see no children, only rich cackling.
I try to fly but gravity beckons me to my destined grave.
As I follow my early death,
I awake in a field of cool, damp, tall grapes. [comments] => 1 [counter] => 179 [topic] => 14 [informant] => Beena [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DreamsandWishes )
