I was made different than everyone else...
I thought that was a bad thing.
I mistook beautiful for disaster
and it was a disguise.
It was almost invisible
to untrained eyes.
They were never lies.

I was always hiding.
The differences complicated the fighting,
and the gaps have lately become
my best asset -
though they are still frightening to reveal.

I was always alone on the inside,
trying to change what was real.
But it never kept me in one place...
Where I lacked, I'd replace the face.
Genuine became a luxury
that you would have to dig deep to see.

It wasn't the truth that set me free,
but someone who took the time
to feel the things that were me. [comments] => 5 [counter] => 170 [topic] => 48 [informant] => Red_October [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

We all hide sometimes when we feel down and can fight no longer, this was well expressed and sad,

bro i'm the same way...i think always of what could happen...which isn't always good...so many people have those "untrained eyes" not even noticing the disaster that awaits them...great poem bro...its hard to bring out who you actually are and stop hiding inside...i know....

I was always alone on the inside,
trying to change what was real.

Now those are words I can surely relate to.

i can relate to this. once you get into the routine of keeping yourself hidden it gets hard to shake.
