We were sitting at a bar last night and ‘you are the sunshine of my life’ comes on the jukebox. They are all saying how much they love that song, and they can’t remember who sang it. I can’t stand the song, and I’m about half lit, but I do know who sang it,
So I tell them. ‘the blind guy’.
Now they are all over my case. ‘the blind guy!’, ‘the blind guy!’ . He’s one of the greatest artists of our time and you call him the blind guy?
Three drinks later we are staring at the news, and a story comes on about a bus carrying ten blind kids that ran off the road into a ravine in Mexico. My friends are all saying how sad this was, and were wondering why ten blind kids were in a bus traveling across mexico in the first place. Well, I’m still mad the ingrates didn’t thank me for coming up with who sang ‘you are the sunshine of my life’, and I’m about three quarters lit, but I did know the answer. So I told them. They were the Stevie Wonder singers. And they shouldn’t have let Stevie drive, even if he is one of the greatest artists of our time.
My friends think I am terrible.
