He was taunted but I was all right
They said he should go back to the country of his kin
And it was nothing to do with the color of his skin
It’s all to do with if you fit in
And he obviously didn’t, cos they punched him on the chin

I was only ten so I didn’t understand
This type of hatred in our fair land
My grandpa was Italian but they didn’t pick on me
And I often wondered (if not color) what they see
That makes them react so violently

As I grew older it soon became clear
That some folks are nice, but some are really queer
The nice folks are all friendly I love them to bits
It’s strange; they’re all smart none of them are twits
But the bullies and the bigots just get on my tits

bravo Dave me lad. What a wizzo write!
I have to say, its the person inside that matters to me.....but had I dated a black guy when I was young, my dad would have thrown me out! My mother was the complete opposite. I made my own mind up fortunately.

Hi Dave,
I can really relate to this poem. I've been there!
I guess the best thing to do is just walk away from the people that "just get on my tits".

Regards,
Laurie
