[hometext] => I wrote this thinking of myself in the third-person. I know it sounds sort of self-centered but picture it as a self-portrait (hence the title).

Another day's struggle for survival in this cold and lonely world is over He strides unabated into the late night chill with resolution The smoldering coals in his eyes tell the story of a man broken but not beaten The spark of love yet lingers unforgotten One hearts defiance against the smothering oppression of a thousand others deadened with cynacism Like a salmon upstream he swims against the insurgent tide of depression An outgoing introvert He is a man little understood by his peers His weary sigh speaks volumes of the inner vulnerability he forever conceals But longs to share when that one special person comes along His creativity is matched only by the passion he holds inside The raindrops on his car window transform into a myriad of quivering jewels Each one speaking to his soul entering his spirit Lines of prose in splinter form He sees the beauty in simple things the silent art of the autumn twilight The tinkling melody of laughter But through all this he is only waiting Peering through the veil of facades cleverly constructed Waiting for that one moment when love will be finally in his grasp And peace will descend upon his aching heart [comments] => 1 [counter] => 173 [topic] => 43 [informant] => Daniel_Brabble [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )
