You told me school was a must,
You said you loved me with all your heart,
You kiss me, tuck me in, and say good night,
As you turn out my light I set and think,
About when I was little and carefree,

When I didn’t wear make up or tight jeans,
When I wore a sweat suit that said Cowboys Go Team,
When you weren’t dad you were daddy,
When mom was mommy and I wasn’t a young lady,
When I was so little I could set in your lap and take a nap,

When I went to pre-school and ran to you when you picked me up,
I start to cry as I see the memory go away,

I remember when we went roller-skating,
I would fall and not care at all,
Wasn’t all that just a ball,
Remember when I ate the bug,
Remember how I spit it out in your coffee mug,
Then right after that I gave you a big hug,

When I didn’t get in trouble,
didn’t get grounded,
Didn’t sneak out,

As I grew up,
We grew apart,
Like right now,

When I was little you would check under the bed for monsters,
When I fell asleep holding your hand,
But now you have trouble getting me to set down and tell you what I did at school today,

When was the last time we did something together,
Just me and you,
Not anyone else,

Remember we would go golfing,
You would always say someday I would be a pro,

But daddy look at me now,
I don’t go out with out make up,
And you make me were loose clothes,

Daddy I know you probably think we grew apart because of your stroke,
Im sure you have probably lost hope of your little girl coming home,

Daddy Im tired of growing apart,
I wanna be held again,
By your loving arms,
Be able to come to you with trouble that’s not at home,
I want you to trust we with the guys I date,
Are you scared their gonna take me away,

Daddy don’t worry,
I will always be the same,
Because your daddy’s little girl is beginning to come out to stay,
I just need your trust and your love,
Daddy I love you and always will,
Even though times are tougher because im not younger,
We can work through it,
Just to let you know Im still Daddy’s little girl,
Just a little bigger than before,

So can things go back,
Or do they have to keep changing,
No stroke will stop me from loving you,
No matter what you are in my heart,
I will always be your little girl,
Standing with a teddy bear and wide open arms,
With little tiny tears in my eyes,
Im in a room all alone,
Daddy come pick me up….take me home,
Hold me and rock me gently to sleep,
Daddy come save your little girl before it’s to late.
