Frozen and pale, down by the sea.
The tell tale heart of a love once lost,
Wearing the red masque of death.

The raven once said "Nevermore, nevermore".
He was wrong, you were my Lenore.
Turning night from the day
You wasted away, in a kingdom down by the sea.

Now the conqueror worm rests full and fed,
While my broken heart's dry and bled.
This dream within a dream holds so many things,
Like the secrets of a life once torn.

Great poets like liars are often abused,
Mistruted by the rich and the confused.
Finding life on the streets and death in a gutter,
This one goes to Poe,
A poet, a lover. [comments] => 8 [counter] => 265 [topic] => 55 [informant] => deadreckoning1983 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 25 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => dedicatedpoems )

I am amazed by this,
I couldn't have done better myself.

Great to have such a tribute to Poe
by my favorite contemporary poet.

Every stanza was exciting.
The last one really got me.

Wishing you could find the time to feed an appitite like mine with such words more often, Dane. You have a brilliant way with words and have constructed a fabulous tribute !!!

Dane,
DAMN! I wish I'd said that! Stupendous!
Just as there are no words worthy to give
praise to the amazing Poe, nor are there
words worthy to give praise to this. You
have dazzled and delighted me.
I bow to your masterful and limitless talent.
You, sir, are an infinite wonder!
