They say a criminal gang abducted you
Whoever did it, it still is true
That the whole world stands against
The work of this deranged few

You were against the war
It made you incandescent with rage
You knew what it would bring
A disaster in our age

For your whole life through
Since you fell in love and started to care
In love with your husband and with Iraq
You worked to help the people there

Your greatest love was for the children
So harmed by a decade and more
When they knew no comfort from hunger
Finding only war

Goodbye Margaret Hassan
Your passing makes the world sigh
Another selfless person is dead and gone
And still others wait to die

A lovely noble being
Has passed from our midst
We are ALL now made the poorer
As Arabia raises its fist

A touching and well written poem

What a tragic waste of such a helpful and caring person. ... most Muslims are gentle people, . Unfortunately all religions have their fanatics

Those who committed this crime have broken their own religious laws, and those of all religions....... The Iraqi people deserve a better image than that which these criminals are giving them.

Lets hope and pray Margaret has not died in vain; Let this be a turning point when the Iraqi nation finally recognises the cowardly acts of terrorism

May she rest in peace, and may God give her family strength to continue.

I know...this is so sad, and it is awful.
She fought for peace and the people she were fighting for killed her.
It makes me angry...

I'll pray for her family and I'll pray for her.

Brilliant write about an amazing person.
*hugs*

It's interesting to note that even al-Zarqawi
said that if Mrs. Hassan fell into his hands
they they would release her. To bad this
group of criminals didn't have the heart to
release her as well and sadder still that she
was forced to die for a war she was
vehemently against at the hands of people
who were also against the war. A wonderful
tribute Allan.
