For Friends

Topic: LovePoetry

Did you happen to hold your gaze past
the courteous point to pass some secret on?
I swear our visual senses picked up the
color, of our respectable iris colors,
Just a fraction more than what is
acceptable for friends.

Yet I caught my tongue, as I always do.
Did a cat hold yours as well?

Might there have been something perched on the tip,
as from your glass you took another sip?

no, no... It was just a passing thought
Passing as casually
as we do sometimes on the street
Or with as little significance to you
as the passing of your hand through your long hair
Which I imagine being as soft and caring
as the words you do say

What useless things these are to think of
Especially when such captivating delusions
are refreshed with each look you through my way
Yet I'm reviewing them only because again,
We are holding our gazes
Just a fraction more than what is acceptable
for friends

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
