Worn down by day’s
Unforgiving light,
I come to rest this evening
On a mountain top,
And let the fire subside
Inside me.
My tail trailed down
The massive rock, creating a river.
My claws made caves
For future ascetics that would
Ascend to God in those holes.
The raging fire in my loins
Gave birth to the mountain,
And it brought forth lava.
There I gave my life
And entered the realm of dreams,
Where I live,
Until a young man’s mad ravings
And wild thoughts shall
Free me from my mountain
So I may sail the skies again,
When imagination is freed
From the chains of this
Silly and logical world.
