The sanity of my being,
Corrupted by “It”
Slowly sucking me in
I try to fight “It”.

But I know
We are fighting a losing battle
A war decided even before we fought it
A war that has defeated those before us
And soon it will defeat us as well
But for now we continue to fight
And with the dignity left in us
We fight for freedom
For the dream of freedom
That slowly escapes our grasps.

And soon we will be a part of “It”
Forgetting our own struggles
Destroying the dreams
Of those that we used to be
Of those who hold on
Those who grasp
The light inside that used to be ours.

Lots of depth here. Anyone who has been through this kind of death could relate.
