To the stars, she said, when she tucked me in
The covers tight, the lamp on dim
To the moon, I yawned, when she walked to the door
Left half open, the soft music flowing in
Love you baby, she whispered, I almost didn't hear
Goodnight Mommy, I mumble as she disappears
Her steps grow farther down the hall
The sound of mommy leaving, once and for all
How could I know that mommy wouldn't be back?
Just a baby, left alone in all that black
I think I'll wake to find mommy, I don't know not to close my eyes
So I feel the wave wash over, and the haze of dreams rise
Falling under a blanket of darkness, of scenes surreal
Warmth around my small body like steam in the air
In sleep I have no reason to be scared, no reason to care
When I wake up mommy will be there...
To the stars, she said, the last time I saw her
The walls around me growing smaller
To the moon, I cried, when she stepped away
Love you baby, every day
You'll be okay...
