[bodytext] => Quietly he mounts his lonely throne In a dismal place none can condone He looks up at the moonlit sky And performs his dreary cry He cries for the life of his life For his cubs, for his wife The others know he is in pain They know he won't see them again They answer his cry from far away They know his agony on this day His cries speak of agony and pain And of the night his love was lost in vain One cold cold night in mid December He begins to quietly remember He returned with his prey of the night And was met by a terrifying sight All his cubs lay dead by the rock Such was the price for hunting livestock He searched for his lovely queen Hoping it was just a dream When her scent vanished into the night He was struck with utmost fright He roams the woods to this day Remembering the day she went away He longs for her and lets out a cry Because of the day it went awry Lonely he lies down to bed With memories of her in his head Then he begins to silently dream Of her white fur and blue eyes that beam He sees her again after so many years And seems to shed those happy tears The cubs follow her close behind He doesn't want this to be in his mind So many memories return to him Of all the times they had been Running and playing in the light And sleeping soundly during the night At dawn this dream used to disappear But this time it stays because he belongs here [comments] => 3 [counter] => 164 [topic] => 27 [informant] => Traiken [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => NaturePoetry )
