As I reached out to catch my falling star
There was no surprise
When it slipped through my fingers
And shattered on the cold ground
Now it lies in pieces at my feet
My pretty blue eyes
Won't shed a single crystal drop
But my fingertips will cry rivers
Of vivid scarlet tears
As I gather up the shards
Of my broken dreams
With their edges like razors
The cuts are sure to run deep
Morning will find the ground
