Sealed up inside myself, since I came back to this place,
Every one of a thousand heartbeats, a plea for an escape,
Noting passing faces, but deaf ears wont hear my cries,
I know I belong here no more, this 'home' is just a lie.

I submitted once to freedom, a place that I could be,
But after three weeks of felicity, it seemed snatched away from me,
I was happy ever after, I didn't wish to leave,
And now that I am back 'home' I can no longer feel free.

And so I sit and contemplate the ways that everything has changed,
About all the hidden meanings, hidden in my yesterdays,
Then fast forward to the tomorrows, where I wonder if it will ever change,
Or I wonder if I will stay here always, where every day is the same...

And so here I am sitting, imprisoned in this shadowed room,
With everything to give, but nothing left to lose,
I cannot sleep, I cannot eat, this place I 'live' is defeating me,
The walls are closing in, I don't know how much longer I can breathe....

But maybe happy ever after will be here again one day,
Though I know that for now the pain will still remain,
And the thousand empty faces that down look upon mine,
Will slowly turn away, slowly avert their eyes...

And I will need their 'help' no more...

**********

Nothing here is what it seems,
Just a room full of shattered hopes..
In a house full of empty dreams..

I can't get over how your poetry has grown and changed. It just gets better and better. There is a time for everything and a purpose to your present isolation. I don't know what that is, but some day you will. Praying for you.

This is fantastic, Phil. The picture adds so much depth ... there is a hopeful feel to the oppressiveness that is felt ...
"But maybe happy ever after will be here again one day ... "
I'm certain that it will come, chose to believe it will ...

Wow, this is truly an inspiring masterpiece. I don't know what else to say, it's written to perfection and I hope you find your "happy ever after" again soon.

Take Care

It's amazing...exactly how I feel...I've read so many poems, but none has ever come this close to the way I feel...it's almost as if you walked in my shoes...took a peak in my heart ad put into words exactly how I feel...
