Never letting go.
Never lowering my wall.
Finding no council in those around me.

In the pool of red I find a friend,
in the shining metal of a blade I find my faith.
In the scars marked so deeply,
my release.
Releasing me, letting go, flowing freely.

the pain is numbing,
comforting to my soul.
It helps me,
it destroys me.

I like this, I can relate.

the pain is numbing,
comforting to my soul.
It helps me,
it destroys me.
My only source of hope,

I can realte to this as well. I will take physical pain over emotional pain any day. I think you could have made the last line a little more powerful though. Your only source of hope... tattered and torn. I love the poem but think if you made the ending pack more punch it would be even better than it already is. Hope you don't mind the suggestion.

I think the definition of an addiction should be something that both helps and destroys. You have said it well.

A beautiful yet sad poem. I wish I had the
words that would take away your pain, but I
don't, but I will say that you are not alone and
encourage you to believe in yourself.
Something I've had to realize is that only your
opinion of YOURSELF matters what other
people say shouldn't matter. Believe in
yourself and convince yourself of your worth. I
leave you with this quote seen during one of
my darkest moments, "Never give up, never
give up, never give up. Diamonds are hard to
find in a world full of fool's gold". Once again
believe in yourself and don't buy into the lie
that you aren't worthwhile.
