I should be able to expect more from you.
Every night it drives me crazy
And I know there’s nothing I can do.

No one would ever think
That after they have loved someone for so long
They would lose that someone to alcohol
And that someone would be gone.

I remember years ago
I would never have dreamed you’d do this to me
But here I am, and its one o’clock
And still it’s your car I don’t see.

I’m so sick of having to sit here
Wondering if I’ll ever see your face again
Or tell you I think you have a problem
I probably wouldn’t even know where to begin.

Stressed out parents wait at night
For that call from the police
Or that car to pull up that driveway
Anything to make the worrying cease.

I don’t remember when the lying started
That you’d say you you’d be at a certain place
And then you would never come home that night
And I’d know that that wasn’t the case.

And I know you say you’re sorry
And that it’ll never happen again
But a girl shouldn’t have to stay up all night worrying
About what has become of her parents.

My parents are alcoholics....they'll never change and I have to deal with that.....I can
understand where you are coming from
but there has to be a time where you just
let go. You can't change them...but only
pray for them.
ALINA
