This time caused by a flying shoe,
He won’t admit he is scared of his wife,
She is the one who controls his life.

He never goes out with friends any more,
She won’t let him alone go out the front door,
His family haven’t seen him for almost a year,
Nor do they know of all his lonely tears.

His mates ring & she is there over his shoulder,
He feels like a child, but really is much older,
Her temper gets worse when she drinks,
He is that wary sometimes he dare not blink.

Hidden beneath his clothes are so many scars,
From arguments that have gone too far,
The house is always full of noise & fights,
He wishes he could disappear into the night.

He still loves his wife with all his heart,
Even though she continues to tear him apart,
One day when she was out at work,
He decided no more could he stand the hurt.

So he ran himself a nice hot bath,
In his head he could hear her cruel laugh,
He grabbed hold of the razor off the side,
He slit his wrist, he wept & then he died.

His wife came home & found him laying there,
Only then did she show she did care,
She fell to the floor & was in such a state,
The tears that she cried were a little too late.

This poem keeps the reader reading. It's spell binding. It's very sad. Is it a true story?

This is really gripping stuff Pixie!

I love the way you've turned things around here. Spun the domestic violence thing on it's head and revealed the hidden side.

Excellent work. I am truely lost for words!

Wonderful!

Luv,

Pander

I'm not so sure if that would not happen to me. I have been in a relationship before that the lady sometimes hit on me and I would never return the favor. However, she would claim to some of her friends that I was the one that left bruises (that was self-inflicted) on her. To a man, it would be a no win situation. I was raised to never hit a lady (and I expanded that to even if I were being hit). I believe for whatever reason, a man never wants to admit to anyone that he allows a lady to beat on him. It's the same reason why it would be rare for a man to cry rape. I remember seeing a movie based on a true stroy when I was younger; a man was raped by a woman and he didn't want to bring it up. Once he did admit to it, the tables were turned and she said he raped her even though that was not true. I think just for reasons like that is why a man never wants to admit any violence against him when a female is envolking it. It is sad when a lady realises that she loves the guy once he decides to exit her life.
