I have to struggle to keep them at bay,
I will not go back to drinking all the time,
In the past weakness has been my only crime.

But I have to stay strong or I will die,
To say I don’t want would be a lie,
Sometimes it’s all I can think about,
Especially when I am insecure & in doubt.

I drink to numb my mind from dark thoughts,
But in the daylight back are the scars & warts,
I let drink control me once before,
Now at least I can begin to shut the door.

But I can hear it calling me, calling my name,
Only on my addiction I can lay the blame,
I feel it now I am sat here craving drink,
But I know that too much alcohol is my missing link.

I try so hard to overcome my addiction,
In my brain is constant confliction,
One side says yes the other says no,
When I crave the days ticks by so slow.

My names Krissie Cope & I am an alcoholic,
Each craving beaten in my wall goes another brick,
I know that I will never be able to quit totally,
As me & alcohol are linked emotionally.

My Cravings

My cravings hit me every single day,

We all have cravings and most of the time the cravings are bad for us. Will power sometimes elapse when we need it most. I do encourage you to stay strong and always do the best you can, Ted Bare.

You can do it.One slip doesn't mean a fall.I came from a drinking family and understand some of the pain and hell.Your poem was meaningful.
