Array ( [sid] => 69532 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Am I Incapable Of Friendship? [time] => 2004-10-31 05:31:10 [hometext] => My first submission. A poem about my inability to be friends with women for sustained periods of time. It seems I always assume if they want to be my friend they must want to take things further. Any feedback would be much appreciated. [bodytext] =>
Am I really incapable of friendship?
I meet a girl and become good friends,
But friendship leads to my obsession.
The idea of them and me,
Is it really that mad?

It drives them further from my heart,
Pushing me deeper into depression.
I’m sure one day it’ll happen,
Perhaps my dreams will come true?
Until that time I must fantasise,
That the girl may one day be mine.

There’s a special friend in my life,
But I messed around with her mate.
She’s still entangled with her ex,
Who’s new partner I too once lusted.

This vicious cycle turns full circle,
On and on and on.

Friendship is like gold, until you think it would be better to lay with them in silk, it turns into mouldy cobwebs that fade into heartbreak. this I see in your poem cool write, vivid and obsessive, isnt it better to have a friend, and if something happens then let it, but dont force the issue.
Ah well Im no relationship guru, so cant really offer you advice in that area.
Awesome poem though, and welcome to the site, Im sure there are others here who are better romeos, in the advice giving.

Welcome to YPDC!!!
Look, I don't think you are incapable of friendship, but you may need to lay off a bit. I mean, friends are just that, friends, and things may or may not progress further, but you cannot think that just because a woman wants to be your friend they want more...
Lots just want friendship.
I'm sorry.

Good write, you express what you feel very well, and I hope the vicious cycle stops soon.
