Array ( [sid] => 69111 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Making Deals With The Sky [time] => 2004-10-27 18:59:55 [hometext] => We cannot interpret our own words at times, nor can we be sure we have kept our word as well. Time merely intermingles with those thoughts, creating a code forever unknown. (More of a song, really) [bodytext] => You make a secret deal with the sky,
You propose of silent trade,
In exchange for natural beauty and light,
You will pray for life everyday.

And when the horizon darkens,
You seem to neglect your share,
You don't realize it's really just night,
He's still watching, the promise's still there.

But remember, the sky does not forget,
The sun shall not fail your pact,
Nor will the clouds impede your pledge.
Time continues on, your heart still intact.

You made a secret deal with the sky,
You asked for no more rain,
Arranged a time for weather,
Though it's still cloudy in your brain.

Too quick to suspect you are,
The minute a cloud rolls by,
You're breaking your contract,
Revenge for what we abide.

The night's just a time for those who slept,
A place for you and your friends to hide,
But you're still looking towards the sky,
Making sure the promise is kept.

You made a secret deal with the sky,
You shook hands with the wind,
And there's no taking it back.
But you're just waiting for the sky to dim.

You made a secret deal and the sky is waiting.
We are all patient for your sake.
The clouds before the sun will fade,
But those in your heart, will just not do the same. Making deals with gods, devils, ourselves. Expecting instant gratification and everything to be our way in life. Where did this start at? This is an excellent write, but a sad description of mindsets of today.

The title I thought was an eye catcher and your poem was very well constructed and a joy to read.

High marks on this one.
