“My son, I shall pass away within a day.”
“No mom, you have to wait for many a day.”
“Dear son, my bones are now breaking down
I can’t bear this physical pain
I pray to God to take me away to heaven.”
“Mom, why don’t you hear me now!”
“Son, your dad was my Lord
Left me behind and passed away to heaven,
I could wait past few days out of love
God says my days have been counted
Won’t you accept this fact?
Your dad was like a mountain of light
And I was like a waterfall flowed from his feet
That mountain has disappeared from my sight
This waterfall would no more exist without that light
A ripened fruit is now separated from its stem
Son, lay me down on earth as I pass through death”
While she was whispering “ Siva, Siva.”
I waited upon her bedside.
That day she drank some milk.
And that night she stopped to talk
Her lips were then moving slowly
I knew she was chanting the lord’s name holy
And that night at 12.00 pm, her lips didn’t move
I chanted sacred mantra “Om Namah Sivaaya.”
And I poured down holy basil water in her mouth
She drank it then I laid her down on earth on a quilt
She fixed her gaze upon my face and
She drank few more spoons of holy water
Poured by me and my wife and children
While I whispered in her ear
“Om Namah Sivaaya” she closed her eyes
Then at 00.10 A.M did her pulse stop beating
And her heart stopped moving
I knew as she said, within a day she breathed her last
And left me in a sea of deep sorrow!

I know we come from different faiths..but when we lose someone we love, we all sorrow and feel deep loss. I grieve with you my friend .. my prayers, that you may recover from the deep sorrow and move on somehow. I know we are both happy knowing that your dear mother is no longer in pain, at least.

My heart goes out to you ... take care. here is a hug. sandy

Oh Venkat, we can all feel the sorrow that you've shared through your recent poetry. I am so terribly sorry to hear that you have lost your mother. I am certain that it must have brought her great comfort to have you by her side as she stepped beyond to meet your father. This is a touching piece... capturing that moment with tender words and obvious emotion.

My thoughts are with you and your family. And with your parents, with wishes that they have found everlasting peace free from pain and sorrow.
Take care of yourself, friend

My esteemed friend. Please accept my deepest condolencens on the loss of your beloved Mother. It is always difficult to let go of one we love but to lose the parents is devastating and leaves a deep emptiness within us. Please accept much love for yourself and your family in this hard time.

im sitting here crying with you, my dear friend, your poem is so beautiful i cant get the words out, rarely have i been touched by a poem so deeply..... and its more than your poem, dear venkat, its what you show us all from your deepest heart and soul, the life you all lead, the loving closeness of your family and spirituality, the peace and acceptence emanates from you of your mothers words which make my heart light to know she is with your dad now, she knew she would be, to me that is the ultimate beauty, the tears run down my face happy they are together again, i wish i could have met them, i am more moved than i can say and am just lost, i send you my biggest warmest hug and love, im here if you need me, peace and blessings to you and yours, im so sorry for your pain and sorrow, love nessa

Dear Venkat, my sympathy to you.
I love your mother's wish to be laid on the earth for her death.
It is good that you are a poet at a time such as this, because as you honor your mother in these words, you, also, begin the healing of your grief. Be comforted as the days go by that you were priveleged to have her .. and that you were able to give of yourself to her.
Know that those of us who have come to know you understand your pain, except perhaps some too young to have experienced
life and death this way. Bizzy

Both, heart-breaking sad, and spirit-lifting beautiful. To share, or not share a specific faith is irrelevant when we share the common conviction that mother . . . dear, dear mother . . . leaves our presence in this world for the welcoming arms of God in His Kingdom. Having lost both parents, I only know of one word that is both, a word of farewell by us, and of greeting by God . . . SHALOM! There is no other word to describe the feeling in my heart from such a tribute as this from a man to his mother. In this case I must fall back on that same word to bond us in the kindred spirit of becoming one (as in family) . . . Shalom!

John

Oh dear Venkat Sir
I am the last to read this and put my comment to it, as a result of my own terrible losses. So I emphasize more intensely perhaps like the foregoing.
I know what the loss of a wonderful mother and father means, and the loss of a wonderful husband, - especially when he is the last thing on this earth.
I echo every word of Reflections.
The difference of credal persuation is utterly irrelevant when compared with such love.
And God is love.
Your mother and father are with you, as mine is with me and my Stephen often tangibly.
They await you to share their glory.
Heart-rending and inspiring masterpiece.

Love and peace
Elizabeth Dandy
