Array ( [sid] => 68404 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The joy of ears tasting [time] => 2004-10-21 21:40:41 [hometext] => This poem reveals the importance given to the power of hearing with a clear discerning mind. The entire poem talks about how knowledge is gained by applying the sense of hearing alone. [bodytext] => Wealth of wealth is acquired by ear`s attent
This wealth amidst all other wealth is supremely excellent

Even if there`s no time for the ears to take feed
With trifling dole of food you supply the body`s need

People feeding their ears with learned teachings are rare
For rich oblations to gods, they even claim a share

However ignorant one be, but let him hear always
Can be weak in language, but proves a stuff and stays

With a staff in hand, in slippery grounds one doesn`t stray
Such are the words of people who walk in righteous way

Let these good learning for everyone be in continuity
Thou, keeping learnt, gains increase of perfect dignity

Even not with an inadvertence will they speak a foolish word
For with clear discerning mind, they have ample lessons heard

If one`s teachings have not opened the learner`s ears
People may listen, but the scarce can they hear

For discourses of lores, refined if ears have never heard
It will be hard for their mouth to utter gentle modest word

If one`s mouth can taste, but ears have no taste of joy to give
What matters, if this person die, or prosperous live?

a wise old owl sat on an oak.
the more he heard, the less he spoke.
the less he spoke, the more he heard.
Now wasn't that a wise old bird?

a few lines to say the same thing~
I wish they were mine..
