Darkness

When darkness covers,
I feel alone and unwanted.
Fear spreads quickly,
distorting the senses.
The silence is overwhelming,
my mind starts to wonder.
Who will protect me from the darkness?
Who cares enough to take away my fear?
But my fear is not of the dark,
it’s of not having someone to love me….
in the dark,
the way that I want and need to be loved.
I miss the feel of hard callused hands
running up and down the soft curves of my body.
But never will I miss the darkness.
I want to be understood as a person,
to be loved as a person,
a human being that craves the physical
contact and the mental stimulation,
that only a soul mate can give.
But the darkness is always there,
crowding me,
making me doubt the world,
and doubt love.
