Taking a moment to shake my fatigue
Salvage the drippings of my dream's exile
Losing the image that dared to intrigue

Listless, I wander down a faint hallway
Haunted by choices I can't yet explain
Grasping at something that still sneaks away
Stumble on secrets that sigh with disdain

Stalking my conscience, past the night's purview
Stepping so silent, don't want to unnerve
Fearful of banshee in vaults I pursue
Wishing to elude the pain I deserve

Running for comfort, as my last resort
Listen for footsteps of the mind's chiding
Tangled in branches and my thoughts contort
Crippled by stigmas I can't keep hiding

Abscond from braiding, yet I am mislaid
Dwelling has vanished, as if on instinct
Matter can deceive, and it has betrayed
Amble toward shadow, but it's not distinct

Ripping through confines of time's known design
Breaking the structure which we are aware
Fallen in favor, cast from the divine
Nowhere to escape, trapped in my nightmare

Visions of Jonah trapped in the whale come into my head when I read this. Isn't it odd how we can be so stuck in those graves and yet, once we take the step out, hardly need to glance back. Just rambling, but this really struck me with regard to where I am and have been in my life. Moving forward can be so difficult...yet, once completed, we wonder how it could be so easy. OK, now you've really got me rambling. This is an excellent write. Deep and beautifully structured. Nice work.
