With a saddened farewell
I turn my back on you and walk out the door.
There is a pebble on the grown
Sitting by the edge of a puddle.
I kick the pebble and it flies over the water
And lands on the other side.

A bird flies over my head
And I fear it will crap on my head.
But it just rises higher in the air
And I stand watching it go.

I try my hardest not to look back
I made up my mind and I am not turning around.
My feet begin to move again
And I find myself moving forward.

I got a back slung over my should
Filled with meaningless things I love.
My doc. Martins are untied
So my rainbow shoelaces are getting wet
Because of the fallen rain coating to sidewalk.

I am the only one to blame
I am the one that packed up and left.
But the coldness of the house was killing me
Soon I would be as dead as the fridge in our front yard.
Covered in dirt and smelling like old fish.

I had to walk away from you all
And I am sorry for the pain that will cause
But I could not live in a house
Where there were holes in dirty walls
And a moss covered car in the driveway.

Hiding my money in a puppet
Or behind a Jim Morison poster
Just does not strike my fancy anymore.
And yelling at the top of my lunges
Just to be heard by daddy
Really is not fun anymore.

I am so sorry that I had to do this
But I am not going back.
With money strapped to legs
And meds carefully hid.
So many things breaking in our house,
And so many people dying inside.

As I walk away and look at the birds in the sky
And the pebbles on the ground
I know that I love you all
But freedom is now what I need.

Nice write. Running away isn't good, I did it, and the outcome wasn't very pleasant...
