Labor of Love

Contributed by norm on Wednesday, 13th October 2004 @ 09:25:46 AM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

In the morning I worked at the foundry,
I poured me some molten slag.
This work has got me so tired,
I'd slee-p with a beat-up old hag.

After noon I work at the baker's
I bake me some loaves of bread,
There, I get me so tired,
I wish that I were pure dead.

At night, I work at the cleaner's
I press many shirts and pants,
Do you understand the problem,
I just don't have time for romance.

From ten to two in the morning,
I've an offer to mine for lead,
I'm perfectly willing to do it,
If they let me mine from my bed.

I've saved us some money, my darling,
I'll give it you, my pet,
Now you can get what you wanted,
A beautiful bedroom set.

This is the second poem that I read in that kind or type and I like it, it's funny, it remindes me of a joke that says "Women need only three kinds of animals 1-The crocodile so that she can have from it's skin a shoe 2-The bear so that she can have from it the fur and the 3rd and last animal is the mule or the donkey that buys for her all that".

Poor Norm, you really do work hard,
and I feel bad for you
Being a Mom, I understand
how you might need some rest
Might you get some for me, too?
