Array ( [sid] => 66485 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => NO MORE MUSIC [time] => 2004-10-07 15:43:32 [hometext] => This WAS the only real place for origional music in Philadelphia lot's of well known artists played and started there J.C. Dobbs.......sad now a sports bar [bodytext] => The stage lights are dark, there's no more songs to play
The last singer's gone and the music makers could not stay
Music is silent, forever in another time
Above the front door there no longer hangs a sign

Oh how I remember
Those nights the place was packed
No more music comes out of Dobbs
Never coming back

The junkies still stumble, and fall down by the front door
There's a wide T.V. screen where there once were musicians before
The Groupies are gone with the reasons to hang out there
They know the stage is dark for good, no sounds circle in the air

Oh how I remember
Those nights the place was packed
No more music comes out of Dobbs
Never coming back

On the side there is a gate I use to walk my guitar through
There's no smoke rising over like it use to do
Some of my partners are gone, playing harps now in the sky
I'm just another person on the street, when ever I walk by

There's no more music at Dobbs Cafe
But I still hear the sounds in my head from another day
And my lady still graces the walk on that south street
She still smiles from the floor and sways herself to the beat
But there's no more music at Dobbs Cafe

It is always so sad when the music stops. To me it is always like another little piece of life has died in the universe. I bet they are playing more than harps up there. Probably just waiting on you!

Smiles,
Rita

I can relate to this is several ways. The places that i used to sing Karaoke got torn down and replaced by other buildings. It is always sad when things like that happen your poem expresses this well. I promised myself this year that inspite of the bad things that happened that I will continue to sing and write music. That is something trouble can not take away from me. I hope it is the same with you
