”Stand up my son, you’re now a man.
These doubts you’re having,
I’ll try to clear as best I can.
Though if you heed me, this much is true:
you will be crucified
it makes so little difference what I do.”

Well now young Jesus
said “Dad you know what’s going down.
People aren’t friendly
and those who fear have left this town.
Still we continue, full steam ahead,
so please do tell me father:
can I still come see you when I’m dead.”

-chorus-
I’m not that happy that I should die
when I’m not even sure I know the reason why.
To sacrifice me, what will it serve?
Is it to save their souls
when that is really
more than they deserve.

God didn’t argue,
God knows at times faith can be weak.
As re-inforcement
to Jesus God these words did speak:
“Paths there are many, most lead astray,
look well inside your heart
and maybe some will learn there is a way.”

PS. Donner und blitzen happening at this end :o))

Jordan, this is a good write. I just can't get into the loving father that purposely commits his son to death to save the sins of a bunch of heathens. I mean, look at the world today, it simply was not worth the loss of his life, it if really happened. And I really don't get the Donner and Blitzen comment. Am I just brain dead or what?

Rita

The fact that blood had to be poured out to atone for sins is what started it all. That was a perfect lamb..Thus Jesus is often referred to as The Lamb of God..also why it was necessary for the loss of all of his blood..but that was a lamb..not a reindeer... heigh ho heigh ho..???

Are you really over 6ft tall...maybe the air is thin up there???

....and something else..nowhere does the bible if that's what this poem is based on; give any hint or idea or whatever that Jesus ever expressed any doubt about what was happening. At one point he said in prayer.."Father if it is possible, remove this cup.." he was talking about the fact that his death as a criminal was bringing reproach. He had no doubt in his father..
He wasn't a mere man, he was perfect..unblemished and without sin. He wasn't like we are..weak in both mind and body..given to doubt and fear ..
