Staring at a grave in the cold,
Not knowing what exactly to feel,
Nothing at all felt the least bit real.

The grave was just a piece of earth,
Is that all that my mother was worth?
All her family didn’t want to know,
I don’t think they cared enough to show.

At the age of nine I shouldn’t have a care,
Yet at a strangers grave I was standing there,
Feeling confused had to grow up fast,
Now forever I’ll be haunted by my past.

As I walked past all these graves,
Sadness washed over me in a wave,
I felt more for them then I did for her,
Hate for my mother inside me did stir.

My real mum is the one who has stood by,
Held my hand, wiped my tears when I cry,
Not the one who gave birth to me,
I wish that my birthmothers’ death set me free.

I stopped going to the graveyard,
For a child I found it far too hard,
I tried to feel something but I just didn’t,
Maybe because of the start I’d been given?

wow pixie, I like this.
sad, and yet not so sad.
Many things can affect us growing up, but somehow I feel our true inner soul gives us strength to overcome or rise above them.
Great job at making me think..;)
Great write!

I found this tragic, yet as the poem developed it's spirit became one of strength. It is a beautifuly expressed write. It almost made me weep . .

This poem of yours Pixie stirred me emotionally. I have to tell you that you are excellent at writing your emotions in poetic form.

I'm not sure what else to say to you except that my thoughts are with you.

Gee Pixie, this poem is so sad, Im sorry for the grief and the memory of such sadness, caused through death and a mothers denial.
Yet even though this poem is so emotionally sad, you have still bought it to life with you talented way with words, and flowing style.

To feel how you do can't have been easy.....to put everything into words probably harder. To share them on here maybe harder still.
You managed to do just that.....well done

Steve
