Array ( [sid] => 66090 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Should virtue attend your path? [time] => 2004-10-04 12:33:44 [hometext] => This poem is all about how human kind should restrain itself from unnecessary activities. This poem also highlights what are all the benfits that come out of self-control [bodytext] => Have self-control to gain the bliss, that immortals share
With indulgence, it leads to darkness and leaves us there

Like wealth, guard the power of self-control
That gives the greatest gain to living soul

If your wisdom`s lore is the cause of self-restrain
The self-repression when known will yield glory`s gain

Being in one`s position, determined and can self subdue
Your pride rises higher than the mountain`s view

Remaining humble to obtain others grace, but chief to one
Is the fortune blessing and the fortune`s crown

As the tortoise, if one has the five restrains
Bliss from the seven worlds, is what the person obtains

Greater self-control on lips, should the person keep
For fault of tongue, bitter tears should weep

For a lie, even the gain be small that it brings
This evil word, is parent still of evil things

Flesh inflamed by fire, has nature to heal the sore
But the soul inflamed by tongue, heals nevermore

One who learns to restrain and guards his soul from wrath
Has virtue, as a timely aid to attend his path.
