Array ( [sid] => 6605 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => The Haunting [time] => 2002-11-13 05:30:00 [hometext] => This poem came to me in a flash and, for some reason, it feels wrong to alter it or metre it in any way.
I know it has obvious rymes and the words are simple, but I feel that's the way it should be.
This one's a true story.
Love and light to all who read it.

The Haunting

The room was cold and the lovers cried;
each one alone, yet side-by-side.
They didn’t understand why they felt despair
and sadness flowing through the air.

As they walked through life in other places
the smiles returned to their faces,
but once again they’d venture home
and, though together, felt alone

Then came loud knocking on the walls
and objects moving in the hall.
Perhaps there was a ghost in there,
an evil spirit who thrived on fear?

They asked a psychic friend to come
and try to move the spirit on.
So she asked her God to come and heal,
to break the spirit’s earth-bound seal.

Then a woman came to speak with her
who was small and timid, quite unsure,
as to why no one would say ‘hello’,
when she arrived, they’d turn and go.

All through Lindsay’s life it was the same
No one ever asked her name
Just stepped across her in the street,
until she found somewhere to sleep.

A derelict school became her place
to shelter from the human race.
And when her body passed away,
it seemed like just a normal day.

So, there she stayed and that was that,
the school was converted into flats.
Then, when she tried to say ‘hello’,
the people there would turn and go.

Lindsay didn’t know that she had died
because no one noticed her in life.
She didn’t know that things had changed
So she just carried on the same.

When I spoke to her that day,
my Spirit friends showed her the way
to a wondrous land of love and light;
to her much deserved after–life.

Now when my friends hear talk of ghosts,
they pass on what they now know:
That Spirits are human beings too
and they need love like me and you.

This was beautiful. I also think there was a lot of truth in it. However, in the "bible belt" where I live, you won't find very many believers of the "supernatural"... I do believe that I'm an oddity... ;) Great write! It also teaches people to notice others. I think sometimes we get so caught up in ourselves that we don't notice other people's pain!

Very inspiring. It must have been hard to express your feelings in such a way. How tragic though. Keep up the good work. - Tara

Please view my poems as well. Love_letters is my screenname.

I think you will enjoy my love poetry. My style of writing is different than most because I am working on different perspective of the pieces I write. Mine, are much like your writing, the detail and style. Thanks. Keep up the fanstastic work.

Love this poem.
What inspired you to write this?
So much truth in it.
It doesn't matter how obvious the rhymes are, as long as it sounds right to you.

This is so true, after my moms passed away I believe this! She has come to us in many ways. People always think that they will harm you,but they are just lost at times or have something to say! Great write! Christina

Hi Emmie

Thanks for your email. I wasn't sure how people would react to the poem. I'm glad you liked it.

I really wrote it to record the event and how I felt at the time. It's a bit like a page of a diary.

It's about some friends of mine who had a spirit with them in their flat. I'm a spiritual healer, so they asked me to help out.

They were terrified and even I was a bit scared becuase of all the things that had been happening there. So, when I found out who was in the flat and why they were there, I learnt a big lesson about judging others (including those in spirit). Anyhow, it's pretty much as the poem says and I'm waffling on a bit.

Thanks again Emmie :)

Thanks for your words there Ginnie. My boss at work runs a Christian ministry, so I know what it is to be an oddity lol :)

It would be such a boring world if we all had the same beliefs or knowledge.
