If only I had the heart,
To kill away your screams.
If only I was there for you,
That day you fell apart.
If only you would talk to me,
Babe, your breaking my heart.
If only you received the life,
Someone like you had earned.
If only you'd just come back,
Even though your heart has burned.
If only your mother was still with us,
Maybe then you'd still be sane.
If only you could have said good bye,
Now you won't even speak her name.
If only your father treated you right,
Baby I'm not blind.
If only you could understand,
What it is you need to find.
If only you would stop searching,
For something that isn't real.
If only I knew what to say to you,
I can't say I know how you feel.
If only I could help you,
You know if I could I would.
If only I could see you,
And talk to you like a real friend should.
If only you knew you were killing me,
By hiding all of your pain.
If only people knew what to say,
Not all this Psychiatrist crap... it's lame.
If only I knew where you are,
Both in your mind and out.
If only when you tried to talk,
I didn't decide to shout.
If only you hadn't of killed yourself,
Not physically, but inside.
If only everyone could understand,

I'm sitting here crying after reading your poem.
I know how it feels to be powerless to help someone, too. Making sense of life is never an easy thing to do.

This brought tears to my eyes
It's so beautifully written and it is so
sad to be in that position and you want
to help someone so badly and can't
find the right words or thing to do
to help them, I think if people would
be more honest and open about
how they were feeling it would help
alot of people out, especially when
they are asked and someone really
takes the time to help them
