Your soft lips divided in two
That indigo dress makes you look so blue
I think you look a part of your time

Edith your hair is tangled
But each strand has been brushed
So much; each strip hurts from the rush
You stoke your hair like a musician does a harp

Edith, you play your old records so loud
It hurts my ears, you know it so
Yet Edith this music, reminds you of home
Of a time and place- you know I can’t understand

Edith you’ve drifted there once
When you closed your eyes for a while
And when you awoke you just smiled
And feel asleep in a daze

Edith, ‘’take me there, to where you want to be"
Take my hand and fly to your place
I will love it, I swear, to see your pretty face
So entwined in romance and no more despair

Edith what were you like in the war?
Did you wait patiently; is that your memory?
Or do you remember; life with your family?
I guess I will never know what you saw

But Edith, as you close your eyes
I hope you’re happy once more
Because I know you won’t wake this time
So I hope you’ve found your place
Because I love seeing that smile on your face

This is an awesome poem it sort of brings back ironic memories of when my dad used to watch "All in the family". I am not joking.

You have written this poem with such utter passion, it so well done and the images you have created have imprinted themselves within my mind, giving me a sense of what we sometimes take for granted, i have not long lost a long time friend, but I know she is happier where she is than in her last few hours here...this poem bought forth some of the better memories, and I would like to thank you so much for that treasure.
Take Care Always.

Well Rod,you did it once again, you wrote great verses all flowing into one great poem.I love the way you wrote : "Edith, you play your old records so loud
It hurts my ears, you know it so",I can imagine it all inside. You brought memories of my grandmother who passed away, she wasn't exactly like your Edith, but she was my Ann and so many things about her,her shopping and jokes ressembled Edith and her smiles.Nicely done my friend,
PumpkinPie(who can't wait to read more)

This was perfectly done.
Not too sentimental.
A lovely poem.
