no cards to deal, no palms to read.
I wonder how they do their deed,
answer one and answer all,
questions by the score.

They write the books, appear on shows
to tell the lost and lonely souls, where
to find, and where to look. Past and
present, future too they speak to
young and to the old, to the meak
and to the bold, to the true and to the
false, questions by the score.

Will I find love, will I know hope,
is it fame, or maybe fortune new,
please tell me what I need to do.
Are my loved one's safe, the one's
here, and what about those who've
moved on.

Have I lived before, and who was
I then, and if I die will I live again.
Are we so lonesome, are we so
lost, questions by the score.

So much faith, skeptics too, but
all deep down reach out to you,
to clear the mist, to see the light.
On this journey which path to take,
and who will tenderly cross, and
who will deliever a wake.

But you see it's no great mystery,
to look into the window of you and me.
To see the bright, to see the dim,
and to see past eyes where light
is gone, questions by the score.

But now and then, a tear must fall
a heavy sigh a saddened face. To answer
one to answer all, to see the good,
you must see the bad.

Save one that you know is true,
and that very one is you, mirrored
image in clear waters be, and that
one soul be only me.

This is very insightful, Chris. All of us can read our own destiny if we look deep enough. For some it seems a fearful thing to do when we should be able to trust ourselves before anyone. Excellent words.

Hugs,
Rita

Reality is such a cold mistress. Like a parent, we can never disown her, but she is never warm or embracing. Only God holds us through the times when she blows cold wind right in our faces. Oh, you've got me thinking today. Thanks for sharing.

Easier to call Madam..whazername..that couldn't see my grandaughter wasn't 18 yet..telephone bill of $900.00 fraudulant dollars... than it is to go inside oneself..for me anyway. It's dark and scarey inside that hall of mirrors...great write..why didn't you put it in inspir ational poetry??? That's my only question. Stop looking Down. It was a bad mistake...not a commentary.

Oh, I agree with the message here. Too many too often seek answers in the most unproductive of places. Too many want to the quick fix, the immediate happy ever after, something "perfect" but not necessarily real.

I'll take real anyday. Everyday.

Obviously.... I enjoyed this!
