Safe and secure in the womb,
Knows nothing of the world,
And still forming ears hear
Silence.

A young child,
the morning spent in raucous play,
Without any cares, succumbs to a nap,
and for a time, the house knows
Silence.

A young mind,
Eagerly absorbing new knowledge,
With books open before him,
And his mind racing, the room is in
Silence.

In young love,
Two people joined together in embrace,
Thier heartbeats settle, no words needed,
With eyes closed, they enjoy the
Silence.

In the bed,
Laying next to what was the love of his life,
As a tear falls onto the pillow,
In total frustration, there now is just
Silence.

In maturity,
He pours out his heart, lays bare his soul,
But his hopes for happiness die,
As from his paramour, he hears only
Silence.

And now,
At the end of his mortal life,
His mind asks "Was I worthy?
Did I make a difference?"
And the answer is
Silence.

Very impressive! I like the insight and the sentiment especially... but the way you've structured it is wonderful. It ties everything together beautifully.
