However, it may open up your eyes to something that is happening to someone close to you, that you haven't thought to look for... [bodytext] => Giggling adolescent,
Beautiful young girl,
Meets a dashing gentleman,
The center of her world.
He quotes Shakespeare to her,
Brings roses, and gives her time,
Spins a tale of romance,
Speaks nothing but deadly lies.
She falls head over heals for him
And they begin to date,
No matter what the world sees,
To her, he is her fate.
He starts the deadly cycle
By telling her she is a fool,
Tells her she has no common sense
For listening to the rules.
So she lets him in a little closer
Because surely he is right,
But he slowly destroys her ego
As she loses her insight.
Six months later they're still dating,
He's cheated on her by now,
And even though the world sees it,
She doesn't see how
Anything he's doing could be wrong,
He's the center of her world,
He's the master of it all,
She's just the adolescent girl.
So onward to destruction
Their relationship does flow,
Over hills and valleys,
Their own highs and lows.
Until finally he crosses that line one day
When just words become a slap,
And then pushing her into a wall
She hears a bone snap.
She lies, she fell down the stairs,
He brings her a single rose,
She forgives him, and he seduces her
Again in words of prose.
She says, he won't do it this time,
We just had a rough week,
It's been two years they've been dating,
Two years lost for nothing.
Her grades slip, she gets sick,
And he's right there holding her hand,
What her parents don't know is that it's the stress
That's slowly killing her, all by his hands.
He keeps hitting her when things go wrong,
She always has a bruise,
So far she's fallen down stairs, bumped into doors,
And now, finally, it's all old news.
People are used to seeing the klutz,
She just always wears long sleeves,
No one ever pauses to wonder
Just what that might mean.
Then the ultimate thing happens,
He almosts kills her late one night,
She's fallen down the stairs again,
Will no one see her plight?
Then somehow some stranger does see in her,
That giggling teenager that she is,
Underneath the tough exterior,
He sees the sparkle and the fizz.
So he seduces her away from the hurt
In her past,
And although the scars remain...
The bleeding's over with at last.
The giggling adolescent will always bear
Those same scars,
But at least now instead of sunglasses hiding her eyes,
In them, you'll see stars.

What a sad message to have to convey, and convey you should. There are too many of us who are so blinded by love then abused seems natural. We need to get away before we become jaded and our hearts seared. Thank you for this MAGNIFICENT, ENLIGHTENING write, relaying a very serious problem. (((Hugs))) Yellowrose,
