Memories only shall remain
Though one by one they fell away
The love, the pain, always stayed

She did not fit within their walls
They threw her out and into it all
At the round table, in Papa’s chair
Soon enough they'd find her there

But not until she walked a while
Would she dare to live her style
Pieces broken from the curse
Beneath the wit, her heart in verse

Words fell slower to the page
In those never absentminded days
Until, still decidedly her own,
Dorothy Parker died alone [comments] => 11 [counter] => 254 [topic] => 69 [informant] => Silent-No-More [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 33 [ratings] => 7 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => poets )

It seems no matter what you write about, you always have your own personal flair and your perfect R&R.

It makes you one of my favorite reads
Very well done my friend

a haunting write -
writers always seem to lead lives of solitude and sadness - poets especially seem to suffer from some great melancholy -
nice work

i don't know dorothy parker, but i do know good poetry when i see it. and this was very good. i don't usually like to rhyme personally, but i enjoy reading it if it's done right, which apparently you have done here. great stuff here, hope to see more and diverse poems from you.

Dorothy Parker is my all-time favourite poet and your poem has done her justice. Hopefully you have inspired more people to discover how great she was. Great write.
