I Tried

I tried to forgive you,
and once again it didn't work,
you knew I loved you,
but you didn't care if I hurt.
I tried to explain what you've done,
I wrote a nice long letter,
no reply came back to me,
though without you- I'm doing better.
I tried to be there for you,
even when you weren't in need,
I gave you my heart and soul,
but then you made them bleed.
I tried to tolerate the conflicts,
and your decisions that affected me,
but you only thought of yourself,
'cuz you really didn't see.
I tried to be your friend,
but I was taken advantage of,
just threw me to the side,
you didn't want my love.
I tried to be your lover,
then you got confused,
twisting our friendship around,
and leaving me alone and used.
I tried to support you,
through the secrets and the tears,
when no one thought you could make it,
I was showing you no fear.
I tried and what else can I say,
it's over, we're finished, the past,
but if it wasn't meant to be,
then why does this pain last?

Great poem. I know exactly how you are
feeling. You captured the emotion perfectly.
I'm sorry you had to go through this. Chin up.
