too young for her fate
swept away by a low cold breeze
mourning's light found her still
gone somewhere better
i guess

(don't forget her face)
soft and angelic
(though i forgave her that)
her eyes were despairing windows
staring out on a world she hated
a world where she didn't belong
full lips that weren't familiar enough
with the word "love"

(don't forget her name)
Violet
like the flowers on her grave
Violet
like the darkening sky she adored
Violet
like the gown that she was buried in

Violet

(don't forget her words)
the ones she said so many times
the mantra of her tragic existence
"i'll never be afraid of death
because i've never been alive"

(don't forget)
some people just can't be saved
they'll never let you in
they'll waste their last breath
pushing you away
and all that you can do
is hold them while they're here

diamonds are a girl's best friend
but they can't cover all the pain
no diamonds for her
just sleeping pills
to make it all go away

(rose petal kisses
i send to you
through the wall of dreams and death
years i'll spend
just missing you
and fixing the broken heart you left)

Sad, but true. I feel the remorse in this - its palpable, being penned./typed with utmost sensitivity.

Excellent.

Very soft, very heart-stabbing. Beautiful.

***** son somehow I missed this one. You
need to post a new poem, but this one gave
me a fix for my need to read a poem by the
great Roy.

"her eyes were despairing windows"

"Violet
like the flowers on her grave"

"diamonds are a girl's best friend
but they can't cover all the pain
no diamonds for her
just sleeping pills
to make it all go away"

What can I say? No mere words can do this
poem justice.
