I am the shadow's moment,
Of darkening the light.
The lie you have been told,
Before your hurt turns to spite.

I dedicate my life to helping everyone see,
The best that is offered, to see it through me.
I am the simple comfort, to soothe your web of fears,
Welcoming you to come to me, to dry all of your tears.

I am the insecurity, harbored and hidden well,
With differing opinions, but not the courage to rebel.
Rather than speak my mind, I write it out in verse,
So I cannot be heard, and yet no one can disperse.

I am the headstrong fortress,
Lifting troubles with finesse.
The stability we all look for,
But only few possess.

I am sometimes the burden,
But I too can be the ease.
I am sometimes the fold-in,

I Am
September 11, 2004

I am the shadow's moment,
