This isn't the way it was supposed to be.
Am I not good enough for him?
What have I done to make his love so dim?
Would he love me if I had turned out to be a boy?
Is that the reason I don't bring him joy?
Why does it seem like he doesn't even bother?
He is supposed to love me, for he is my Father.
What do I have to do to earn his love?
Do I have to fly in the great blue skies above?
Just thinking about him makes me cry.
To earn his love, I'll continue to try.
Does he ever wonder about his first born daughter?
Does he care about me? Does he even bother?
Was I ever wanted by him?
Was there ever a time when his love for me wasn't so slim?
Times like now I sit and wonder.
Times like this I sit and ponder.
This isn't the way it was supposed to be.

Why doesn't he love me?
This isn't the way it was supposed to be.
Am I not good enough for him?

more than likely he does love you very much its just for some people it is hard to reach out to the ones they love and show them how much they are cherished and loved.... great write.

Some people have a hard time
expressing how they feel.
Especially to those we are closest to
I enjoyed reading this, it's full of
pain and hope and reality

| I think he loves you parents love there kids he just may not know how to show you or he thinks he is showing and you want more and he isn't aware of that. I had the same prob till I talked to my dad about it and he wasn't aware he was neglecting showing me his love. |

I want to thank all of you for your kind words. But I am almost possive that my Father doesn't love me. I haven't heard from him in almost 13 years. If he loved me he would have at least called once in a while. I have tried to convince myself that I am better off with out him. But in never works. I guess inside me is still that 7 year old little girl who needs her Daddy. No matter what I do I can get rid of the piece of me that needs my Daddy. It probably will never go away. But I will do my best to continue my life with out him. Just as I have done for the past 13 years. Thank you all once again for your kind words.

I have only seen my so-called father twice since I was ten Candice, he fled the country being chased by the police after threatening my Mum and her new bloke with a shotgun! He was and probably still is alcoholic, who beat her often! We lived in fear of him for years and my Mum still does even though strangely I can tell she still loves him??
The last I heard he was living somewhere on the Gold Coast in Australia, but this was also probably a lie from him!
He also doesn't write or call, and I'm still not 100% I want him to after finding out recently some of the things he used to do to my Mum, I don't think I could forgive and probably would end up saying or doing something not nice to him or for myself!
Luckily for me I turned out completely the opposite, but I have this fear that I may end up like him, we're told by the experts and the press that it follows through the generations. This is why I haven't had many girlfriends and was so devestated when I thought I'd found the right one, I really knew that I could never treat her like this, but I did tell her of my fear and I believe it was my fear which forced her to do what she did!
I hope for you that you find one day that he does love you and just didn't know how to show it, but it's hard to believe this I know! But still hope!
Great writing by the way and you're better off being a girl really as you are the best people by far in my experience.

Dean,My Father isn't as bad as yours, but it still hurt to know that he doesn't want me. And I know that if he was looking he could have found me. All he had to do was go to my cousin Jenny and she would have called me to ask if she could tell him where to find me. But I never got a call like that. I have been looking for him, becuase I need to know. But it isn't as easy to find someong who doesn't want to be found. I do still hope and I think that is one of the things that hurt so much. Because I do hope he is wodering about me and that he loves me, but then I look back on the way he has acted in the past, and that just shows that he couldn't have loved me. I really think that it would be better if I could just let go of this. But I know that will never happen. At least not until I know for sure. I might be only be bringing more pain on myself but I just have to know. So I'll continue to look for him until I find him or I finally loose hope. I hope I find him before I loose hope. Thanks for your comment.
