Used to wish on the star,
Twinkling brighter then the rest,
Asking it to bring me happiness,
Like maybe it would make me blessed.
Stars kept on shining, and dreams left untouched,
Told me, though my heart may believe,
The stars weren't truly going to help me.
Carried a rabbit's foot for seven years,
To take away the bad luck I acquired,
When I dropped that mirror.
Must have countered the bad luck, because
It didn't bring me any good, nothing does.
Tried a dandelion, blew it to the wind,
Hoping they would carry my dreams,
Into the sky, maybe to that star,
And together they could grant me,
The wish I carry, if they could just agree.
Lost an eyelash, found on my cheek,
On my fingertip I tried once more,
To make my asking special, unique.
But never did my wish come true,
Time after time it was only denied.
Going through the tunnel, on my way home,
Held my breath all the way through,
Expecting the other side to bring it to me,
But I didn't get my wish, not even a clue.
Gave up on wishing, and asking the unknown,
Because nothing ever came from it, but
A feeling of being alone.
Threw out my lucky stone and Thanksgiving wishbone,
Planned to live in the moment, not wishing for what I couldn't know,
Til I looked over my shoulder, at the bright rainbow...
I wondered about it's end,
And now I'm wishing again.
