I recently left my dream job because the team wouldn't deal with issues of bullying. I guess this is a intersection of the two. [bodytext] =>

I am the bad seed
The shunned child,
A sacrifice to be made
The one who couldn’t live the lie,
So I had to go away

The secret was too big and bad
Too shameful to disclose,
But family skeletons have a knack
Of unexpectedly clawing back,
And this one has arose

I am the scapegoat
The whistleblower,
Who couldn’t turn away
My separation from the group
Was the price I had to pay

Better than those left behind
Who choose to be enclosed,
For dirty secrets buried deep
Like toxic waste are inclined to seep,
And blight all those exposed

I am the discarded one
A loss not mourned,
The one who cannot return
I made my choice to stand my ground,
Now the bridges have all burned

Sadder for those denied the truth
Children growing amidst canard,
Everyone had to deny the fact
For the family to stay intact,
And support the house of cards [comments] => 6 [counter] => 197 [topic] => 39 [informant] => spike [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 30 [ratings] => 6 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Grief )

its hard when something horrible happens and the ones who are supposed to support you , turn their backs on you. my relationship with my mother has suffered immeasurably because of something very similar.

I know how you feel "i was always bought up to tell the truth" telling the truth even with tact has hindered many a work promotion.
Though it's hard, and things have been difficult for you i have nothing but admiration for sticking to your guns. Excellent poem.

Well done, Spike!!!! This is a strong write - both in poetic accomplishment and personal accomplishment. You have much to be proud of.

Impressed, as always -
