No matter what I do,
Every time I think I’m getting there,
I end up running back to you.
Like a shadow I can’t shed,
Will you leave me when I’m dead?
Or will I spend my whole eternity,
Running, running back to you?

The nameless face,
Running with me in place,
Neither of us getting anywhere,
Like a sinner in his prayer,
Begging to be freed of his despair.
What I am fleeing, leaving behind,
Is just what I’m running to,
I know it’s what I will find.
Because wherever I go,
With anyone I try,
There’s no use wondering, wondering why,
I keep running back to you.

Promise after promise I make to myself,
This time I’ll make it, now I will stand.
But as soon as I can taste the glory,
Nothing happens as was planned.
But I have to keep up,
Can’t get lost in the past,
Am I running to the future,
Or another life surpassed?

I find comfort in the line of fire,
Knowing sooner of later,
I can slow to a pace an lay down in this space,
Between bodies broken and lives torn,
Laying there worrying,
Will we be reborn?
To try to keep up and find what is true,
Or to keep running, running back to you? [comments] => 2 [counter] => 187 [topic] => 61 [informant] => Calista [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => selfstruggles )
