Why do I feel this way When I can't even confront you today When I shy away and hide inside my shell Looking for a shield from the falling hail. You make me feel peaceful, joyful, special An unexplained understanding of it all You make me feel like I'm floating on cloud nine A feeling I want to have all the time. I don't understand myself when I ignore my feelings Why I go speechless even though you're appealing How my shell becomes a protective zone from the world And I can't rip it open to expose a heart of zeal. Oh how I long for the day when I get the guts And tell you how I feel so I don't go nuts I hope you won't shy away from me for telling it true But instead be happy because I exposed myself to you. Your gentle heart so full of love Full of warmth, kindness and a shelter from above Full of all the things I get out of life And even the things that tear like a knife. I look at you and wonder How you could possibly be ablunder Why can't you see my looks, full of hope, or even just a chance A chance that you might even shar with me a last dance. But there comes a point, a time to give up A time when all around you and I will shut up See the beauty in one another like never before Know that each other is the one we adore. Hope comes through, the fight with self ends The truth shines bright, and rules bend Rules of society that tear true loves apart No longer do they have standards, but a want for people to get a new start. If you just take one chance on me I know you'll truly see All that's hidden peel away So I can walk your way.
