Layed me bones on old coal sack.
To catch me even an hour of sleep,
Afore a new days dawn come creep.
No coals for the fire no wood to burn,
Asked for embers but masters stern.
Hold me garments close and tight,
to drive away the frosty night.
Worked the kitchen bent double in the stable,
scrubbed me hard as i was able.
Peeled the tatties then down all fours,
Waxed and polished all the floors.
Brushed madams ponies tails and all,
then mucked em out her every stall.

Morrow same and the day after that,
till my life is done a tired old bat!
I laugh to think i might have been,
From rags to riches like our queen.
Baked the bread for brunch and tea,
but not a crumb left out for me.
Slung their spoils washed out bed pans,
Iced their creams then washed me hands! [comments] => 4 [counter] => 144 [topic] => 43 [informant] => x_midnight_x [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 14 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )

I enjoyed your poem and the style it is written in. A poem such as yours is a reminder that as much as I know of writing poetry, there is still so much for me to learn.
