Of staying together,
For 21 years,
And it ends in tears?

Why stay when things are bad?
When you can easily walk away,
Leave everything behind,
Everything will be just fine.

Tell me why this has to happen?
Leaving the kids to be on their own,
Leaving them alone until they are grown,
Saying "If you need me, Just pick up the phone".

I know you got your reasons,
But it's still hard to try to start believing,
So all i got to do now is try to cope,
Now i am starting to pray for some hope. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 159 [topic] => 48 [informant] => AdamChantell [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 14 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

I can't not see this from both angles... I am both the child of divorce and a rather recent divorcee. Whether your the parent or the child, whether you know it's right or don't think it is... it's a terribly painful event. I'm so very sorry to hear that you're going through this now. You have captured the emotions well in this piece.

It does though yet better in time (which I know is kind of a crappy, cliche thing to say). It's a bit of a rollercoaster... Scream when you feel like you have to, hold on to the person nearest you when you feel you need to... and eventually the high and lows will even out.

Wishing you well,
SNM
