I felt the turning of the tide; it’s true
I felt the distance ‘tween us grow
and watched it fill with many doubts
of what I thought I did not know;
and yet, throughout the time we’ve shared
I’ve always held you near:
‘twas you my eyes did feast upon,
‘twas you my heart held dear,
but as I turn this one last page to close
this tale of you and I, by far so sweet,
by far too short, and as I feel
by far not yet complete,
the story-line revealed a twist
which left within me now a feeling
that what I was I was so good,
but only for the time being.

Epilogue

A bitter sweet way to describe the end of a relationship. So many poems are about the pain and anguish of a lost love, I like the quiet sincerity of this one. Good stuff!

I like your approach with this.... it is "not yet complete" but part of something that continues on... as are the tides of the sea, the pages of a book.

I agree with the previous comment. There is quiet sincerity here... and I think, great insight. Wonderfully done!
