Array ( [sid] => 61469 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Olympics [time] => 2004-08-26 11:07:56 [hometext] => This poem has to do with winning in life. I was inspired by the Olympics and wrote it while watching the different events. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I would sure welcome your feedback [bodytext] => It really is an awesome sight to see
Just what these athletes can achieve
The amount of training it takes
To compete and risk such high stakes

The tremendous drive and motivation
The commitment to resist distracting temptation
A single-minded purpose they serve
And a sense of fair play they observe

With quality mentors such as these
Did you ever wonder what we might achieve
If we were to live our lives through thick and thin
With values such as these in an attempt to win

And the risk and bravery in order to gain
A positive reputation and a good name
To such a high standard do they aspire
That they will risk losing in spite of their desire

For qualities such as these look no further then the D's
Discipline
Dedication
Determination
Dependability
Desire

So maybe we need to be athletes so to speak
And when we are down and out we need to seek
A five D approach to deal with the situation
And remember we do represent our own summation [comments] => 2 [counter] => 173 [topic] => 21 [informant] => Willofree [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )
